We’re an independent film production company based in London, telling bold, human stories across narrative and documentary film. Our diverse team come from backgrounds in film, journalism, and other media, so every project is shaped by multiple perspectives, strong editorial instincts, and a diversity of lived experiences.
Founded in Kyiv and London in 2022 by British filmmaker and screenwriter Jack Laurenson, Trident now draws on a rich mix of professional and personal backgrounds that helps us grasp the nuances of character, place, and politics as we bring it all to the screen with clarity and care.
Our current slate
Catch or Kill (feature, thriller/horror): principal photography wrapped and the film is now in assembly toward picture lock.
The Good Samaritan (feature, thriller): principal photography wrapped and now in final polish and in distribution discussions.
Freedom War (feature documentary): a ground-level exploration of the Russian war against Ukraine — wrapped and in finishing.
Recent work & recognition
The first productions we worked on set the tone for our range and ambition:
Metamorphosis (2022, short) — award-winning festival run.
The Mavka (2023, short) — award-winning folk-horror now live on our website.
A Bit of a Stranger (2024, documentary) — premiered at Berlinale with further screenings including Cannes.
How we work
Collaborative & flexible: We use a small core team, scalable crews, and smart scheduling to get our films made without too much fuss.
Quality on a budget: We prefer private/low-cost locations, minimal permitting and bureaucracy fuss, and still get high production value.
Fair and collaborative: We use clear and fair agreements that give meaningful revenue participation to our whole cast and crew.
Recent & upcoming projects:
The Mavka - In this short film a grieving father's obsession with a vengeful water spirit turns dangerous when he becomes ensnared by her powers. A deceased spirit reaches out to try and help him break free before he is condemned to the darkness.
