We’re an independent film company based in London, telling bold, human stories across narrative and documentary film. Our diverse team come from backgrounds in film, journalism, and other media, so every project is shaped by multiple perspectives, strong editorial instincts, and lived experiences.
Founded in Kyiv and London in 2022 by award-winning British filmmaker and screenwriter Jack Laurenson and his partners, Trident now draws on a rich mix of professional and personal backgrounds. That breadth helps us grasp the nuances of character, place, and politics as we bring it all to the screen with clarity and care.
Recent work & recognition
The first productions we worked on set the tone for our range and ambition:

Our films have also been awarded by the London Director Awards, Eastern Europe Film Festival, Greenwich Film Festival, Rome Short Film Festival, and more.

Freedom War (feature documentary): a ground-level exploration of the Russian war against Ukraine — wrapped and in finishing.
How we work
Collaborative & flexible: We use a small core team, scalable crews, and smart scheduling to get our films made without too much fuss.
Quality on a budget: We prefer private/low-cost locations, minimal permitting and bureaucracy fuss, and still get high production value.
Fair and collaborative: We use clear and fair agreements that give meaningful revenue participation to our whole cast and crew.
Distribution-minded: We have film festival strategies primarily aim to get our films on cinema screens and onto digital/VOD as soon as possible.
